question about the brevis 35 vibration!

I wanted to buy the brevis 35, but I wanted to know how loud the vibration from the adapter is. When the motor is turned on, do you hear the noise from vibration and does it vibrate the camcorder too? Thanks.....

you can't hear it from more than a foot away, and it has no effect on the camera. I've never picked it up on a mic, even on a soundstage.

and it has no effect on the camera. .

I would disagree on that part of your answer. We had issues with it shaking the entire adapter itself causing the image to blur. It was some combination of one bracket being too tight while another wasn't tight enough or something. We didn't have an extension tube because we were told it wasn't needed, so when we found that it was necessary, we had to quickly put something together locally which involved a series of step up and step down rings which (I surmised) didn't help the issue.

We were never able to solve the issue completely, sometimes padding the support with a little folded camera tape seemed to work, other times we had to shoot while pressing against the brevis with our thumb to dampen the vibration. When everything was locked down tight, it would definitely happen.

It wasn't the worst problem, but after realizing that it was happening, we had to constantly troubleshoot it and it was a pita.

The MP.1 upgrade includes externally field adjustable, microprocessor managed, oscillation control. We did this to ensure maximum image quality could be achieved in under 60 seconds, without taking anything apart. The REV2 is, and has always been adjustable, but it's done internally and it's not controlled by a chip.

The MP.1 is quieter than the REV2 meaning that you should not be able to hear it unless you place your ear physically on the carbon tube.

Joe, it was great chatting with you at NAB :-)

With the new version its even quieter. I have to put my lips on it all the time now. Probably when you first get it you will notice but you get used to it to the point you forget its on. The only situation you might hear it on a mic is if the mic is on the camera and its pin-drop quiet, but usually there is noise going on all around that will drown out anything the Brevis makes.

$0.02.

I have the Rev2 and I can feel the thing vibrate throughout the camera and the tripod handle as well, but it almost doesn't make sound. I have never been able to use a camera mounted mic of any kind with the Brevis on at the same time.

But for normal production where you have a boom op, the Brevis has never caused a problem.
