Question About TAPES please help

I just got the camera and did not know that it was so sensative, even though it makes perfect sense, towards certain tapes, and I used the Sony Tapes that you would buy at best buy (blue package) same ones I was using with the XL1's before getting the DVX...Anyway I have used them for about 2-3 hours of shooting just practice stuff....And I worked with another guy for about 10 hours of exporting with the camera, panasonic tapes, not sure pro quality or master quality....Anyway time for the question, If I switch to only using the Master Quality Tapes by Panasonic, would you suggest cleaning the heads or should I be ok if I start to and only use those Master Quality tapes....Please any help would be much appreciated....Also if I must clean them should I use a cleaning tape from panasonic, or do it myself, once again thank you all....

I'll second that. Sony tapes are wet lube, the Panasonics are dry. You mix the two, you might get some muddy gunk on your heads. I'd clean them first.

Would you suggest cleaning using a tape, or manual.....If i do use a tape since it is the first time and there should not be that much gunk building up should I be OK, or will I screw the camera up...

I read somewhere that you are supposed to run a head cleaning cassette with a brand new camcorder, before the first tape goes in.
What do you think about this? :P

I've never heard that, and it REALLY doesn't sound right. In fact I'm 100% sure that's not a good idea.

But I guess still the question remains, what about cleaning the heads obviously with a changing tapes I should clean the heads but are the Panasonic Cleaning tapes really that bad, or should I really just clean it manualy which does not seem like that big a deal, I just figured since it is brand new, The tape would not be so bad.....But any suggestions would be great...

Really?
I thought Panasonic Cleaning tape was one of the better ones out there....and that is the one I use.
Then any other good head cleaners?
