question about student and teacher software discounts

let's say i have a child in kindergarten. could i purchase her a copy of adobe creative suite 5 master collection? :cheesy:

or if i have a brother in college. could he buy it is a gift for me?

Why don't you just enroll in the cheapest available media class at your local community college, use the paperwork to demonstrate your student-ness to the software vendor, conclude the sale, go back to the community college, withdraw and get your enrollment money back?

that is one of the many reasons why i need this software, to create stuff like that with photoshop. :beer:

Where I used to go to school (U of T), the campus computer shop operated like a campus pub - they never asked for IDs.

But, much like Max's scenario, I've also heard that a student buying SW/HW at the educational price for gifting purposes isn't exactly doing anything wrong...
