Question about sending to festivals...

Wondering if anybody has any opinion, facts, truth to this, but I'm sending some films to festivals now and I think I read somewhere that fests frown upon having your film shown on the internet (i.e. through your website) before showing at their festival. Like they think it's "tainted" or something. Is there any truth to this? Anybody heard about that before?

i haven't heard the internet question before .. but some festivals prefer ( or require) that you project not been screened at other festivals before their dates .. they want 1st screening to happen at their festivals ...
the internet question might have more to do with has it been sceening on Ifilm or some other large site ..
