question about rode ntg-2

ok, sorry to ask on here but since the place i bought it from is closed i'm hoping for a quick answer. I bought a rode ntg-2 shotgun mic and noticed that the one of the 3 pins on the input is longer then the other 2, is this correct? I'm inclined to believe this is not as should be since i've never noticed this on any other mic i've used. Thanks for your help.

ok, after looking around at specs more, it seems that the long pin is the ground, I'm hoping that this pin being longer is normal then. Sorry, i'm use to using cheapo mics or something like a Shure SM58, which has all even pins.

I say as long as it works properly, you have nothing to worry about...BTW, how do you like the mic? I have been thinking of picking one up...

i don't know yet, i just got it but don't have a cord for it yet, which is why i was concerned about the longer pin, I haven't had a chance to test it :\

I don't own one but got a chance to use one the other day. A very unscientific evaluation but it worked well and sounded good. But with out having a real comparison it's hard to say anything definitive.

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with your mic. That is the way it is supposed to be. So, no worries. The ntg-2 is a pretty good little mic I might add.

excellent, thank you for the help :) I figured since it was ground, it was probably ok, but you never know with these things and i tend to have bad luck when it comes to buying stuff, haha. Thank you!
