Hi all,
From what I understand, certain microphones that can be operated by both phantom and battery power have a higher dynamic range when using phantom as opposed to battery power such as this AT899 lav mic I've been looking at:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/266176-REG/Audio_Technica_AT899_AT899_Condenser_Lavalier.html
My question is, does this hold true for the NTG-2 as well? I couldn't find any details about this online. I have a Zoom H4n, but I would like the NTG-2 to be battery powered because I noticed the H4n's phantom power produces more hiss, not to mention it devours the batteries. Would I be losing some dynamic range if I battery power the mic?
Thanks for any info.
Take care,
Mark
