Question about Plug Ins? PPC vs Universal

I currently use a Powerbook G4 1.67 17 inch with 2 gigs of RAM and I have been seriously considering purchasing a desktop for HD work. Currently I'm using a DVX100A but in the near future I plan on Purchasing an HVX. SO here is my Dilemma, I have a lot of Plug ins for FCP and I'm not sure if they will run at all on a Mac Pro, I know that FCP would not run on Intel macs until the release of 5.1 and I guess I have assumed that the plug in's will not run at all even under emulation (rosetta). This made me plan on purchasing a QuaD G5, Just so I would not loose any functionality that I currently have. So my question is will PPC plug in's run on intel macs at all? Even if they are a little slower? i do realize that most plug in's are being offered in Universal Versions for an Upgrade price and Maybe that is the route I will have to take but I would be very pleased if the versions I have now would run. The Macbook Pro was actually already out on the market when I purchased my powerbook, but I could not wait for FCP 5.1 to be released at the time to I stayed Power PC. I would hate to spend money on another PPC Mac if I don't have to. Thanks in advance for your answers.

Yes, plug ins will run on the Intel Mac. There are a few thrid party plug ins, namely Magic Bullet and others, that have updated plug-ins that will run on an Intel Mac. Upgrade, you'll be just fine. It's not that big of a deal.

I know that there are updated plug ins that will run, but will the older ones run too? Like the Magic Bullet Editors that came with my DVX, or Ultimatte Advantedge, CGM, Vitrix etc...?

I know Magic Bullet has to be updated. I don't think Nattress or CHV need to. You'll have to go check each vendor's web site, or email each one. From what I know, MOST don't need an upgrade.

Thanks.

the older version of Magic Bullet will install, but not run properly in FCP5.1... If you have Magic Bullet Editors 2.0 (what I got with my DVX last fall) then there is a free upgrade to 2.1.
