Question about Palmcorder(For J.Barnes)

This is the answer I got from Ritz and I'm still not sure what kind of camera I will get if I finalize that transaction. It's not clear enough for me.

"Hello,
Thank you for your interest in Ritz Auctions.
I'm sorry for the confusion.

Camcorder is the generic term for this device, that is: a video camera
combined with the recording device into a single unit. Palmcorder is the
Panasonic-copyrighted term for their hand-held camcorders. Therefore, all
Palmcorders are camcorders though not all camcorders are Palmcorders.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Thank you,
Rebecca
Ritz Auctions"

Thanks for a answer.

Re: Question about Palmcorder(For J.Barnes)

It sure sounds to me like it was a misprint all along.  Ritz is a huge company, so they probably get tons of emails daily inquiring about specific products being auctioned off in their inventory.  That you got an unclear answer doesn't surprise me, but I think that you're probably winding up with the product you intended to buy.

I think that if you went ahead with the transaction and received a camera that is other then the one you intended to buy, you'd probably have enough inaccuracies between everything to get your money back. That's my assumption though, and I don't know anything for sure.

If this were one of those companies operating in times square NYC, I'd run screaming from the deal, but Ritz isn't exactly a shady operation. I expect that they would work to correct the problem if they ended up sending you a camera other then the one you bid on.

I suspect that this is all stemming from a single typo, and that the camera is exactly what you expected it to be, but obviously I can't give you anything more then my suspicions based on what you're telling me.

I think you've just got to jump in at some point and assume everything is legit until the facts prove otherwise.

So, anyway now, just when I'm ready "to jump", my cart is empty, probably to long time since auction, but not my mistake because I was waiting for their answer.

Gros Merci J.Barnes!! (Thank a lot)

Re: Question about Palmcorder(For J.Barnes)

You're welcome, but watch out...keep all your emails! Ebay puts the responsability upon you to pay unless you prove to them that you tried to pay and couldn't contact the seller.

I once won an auction at xmas time and sent numerous emails to the seller requesting a checkout. He didn't once respond and I noticed that his feedback was racking up negative complaints echoing terrible service. I tried for a week to get in contact with him to no avail before just forgetting the whole thing.

Three months later, the guy filed a complaint against me with ebay for non-payment. Because I didn't keep any of the emails I sent him, ebay wouldn't recognize any attempt by me to contact him and I now have a "strike" against me in their records.

Trust me on this one, just because it's gone from your cart doesn't mean that they won't come after you later! I got bit for a $2 item, I'd imagine someone would be far more likely to seek action against you for a $200 item.

CYA.

Re: Question about Palmcorder(For J.Barnes)

I finally concluded that transaction, hope everything will be OK. I will let you know and they said it was a misprint error and the camera is really the Panasonic PV-GS50 MiniDV Camcorder.
