Hey guys
I need help with something here:
I'm going to be getting a DVX100a in February, and I've been doing a lot of research on this camera, but something has come up. I live in the States but I am planning to move to Brazil and do some shooting there. This is a permanent thing, ok. I want to buy the camera here because it's so much cheaper. Anyway, I've come accross the NTSC/PAL thing. Could someone help me out with what is the best way to go about this? Should I just buy a PAL Dvx, but then not be able to use it here in the States? Or is there such a thing as a converter that I could use and just switch it back and forth whenever I'm in either countries?? Does anyone have any experience or wisdom in the matter? HELP!!

Thanx, Sirius. Seems that there's a whole new system down there... in the second article, what do you understand is meant by: "Brazilian broadcasters usually accept 525/NTSC recordings, which they "Transcode" at the time of use. PAL-M and standard PAL recordings are not interchangeable without conversion."

Well, I understood it to mean Brazilian broadcasters usually accept 525/NTSC recordings, which they "Transcode" at the time of use. PAL-M and standard PAL recordings are not interchangeable without conversion. :undecided

Ok, here's the practical question: if I take an NTSC Dvx down to Brazil, shoot with it, then upload the footage into a computer, edit it, then burn it to a DVD using PAL settings won't it work??? Bottom line of my question is: why does it have to be a Pal cam down there? I'm sorta new at this that's why there's loads I don't know...
