Question about micing up the bride & priest during wedding ceremony...

I am going to mic the two up with a lav mic hooked up to recorders. That takes care of that problem. What do you do for when or if people go up and do speeches as well? Do you have a 3rd voice recorder on the speakers?

Thanks,

It depends on your situation. If they are using a microphone already you can either tap into the mixer or set up a mic pointed at one of the speakers. Or you can hook them up with a lav if you have time, since you should have taken them off of the officiant and groom by then. Which is the normal way to do it, by the way; the bride is usually wearing a white, frilly dress, which makes hiding a black microphone so it won't rub on fabric a lot more difficult than just doing the groom. I actually tend to mic only the groom, positioned low to capture all three pretty equally. If you can't do either of those you can bring a shotgun mic and get as close as possible.

well u wouldnt take them off until the ceremony is completely over though right? I mean i dont think its appropiate to all of a sudden have the camera guy run up on the stage half way through.
