Question about Matte Boxes

I think the problem here seems to be one of perceived value. There are a lot of factors that go into pricing. As with anything in this world, you get what you pay for. When I don't perceive a value in a product, I choose to forgo the purchase. I think the purpose of a matte box has been explained here and in a couple other threads that have been pointed out. You either see the need or you don't. If you don't see the value in it, don't buy it...but don't expect to shoot Kiefer on your next project. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Fine, multi-thousand dollar handmade timepieces cannot keep time as well as even the cheapest quartz watch. Like a mattebox, you're paying for small quantities of fine materials with a high-tolerance fit and finish.

You can get a mattebox for less, but there are trade-offs in materials and build quality. What you are willing to, or can afford to tolerate is a personal decision. Chrosziel, Petroff, Cavision, Formatt and others offer plenty of choices. Each has its strengths and weaknesses.

Okay, so I did use the search function to track down items on using a mattebox with the LA7200G adapter and came up empty handed.

What matte box should I consider that will let me use filters? I would consider anything up to $2,100... methinks. I seriously shoot myself in the foot every time I try to shoot outdoors filterless.

Good thing my warranty is good until 2009.

Don't forget the filters you put in a MB can be $300 or more. I have a Chrosziel 4 stage & a case of 45 or so Tiffen, H&H & B&W Panavision size filters. It's a $8000 case easy, so why put $1000 in filters in a $300 matte box with parallel surface problems, shake & the chance of the whole Damn thing falling off ?

I've also used Gaff tape and cardboard ...

Lots of Love,
Steve

You trust cardboard and tape to hold up your filters?
