Question about masking

I'm going to display these printscreens to help out my question:

My question is that is it possible to invert where the path gets closed? Like everything else be able to see and make the points where i cut out transparent(make the people transparent and everything else able to see.

Yes. You have to click on the little cross by "Path" and then change "Mode" to "Negative."
