Question about macro for my 35mm adapter

hey everyone, i know this website is for well "dvx users", but i use a sony vx2100 (which will one day be a dvx if i spend wisely). Anyway, the vx2100's screw on mount is 58mm, so i bought a 58mm macro lens to attach to my 35mm adapter. but the tutorial i was using uses a 72mm macro because it was developed for the dvx! now when i go to attach the macro to the pvc pipe it doesnt fit. so would it be ok if i still used the 58mm macro and just bought a step up ring to a 72mm or will that throw everything off?

yes, it will work with a step-up ring. I've not seen this tutorial before, but I promise there are much better ways to build a DIY adapter.
