Question about License Plates

I'm shooting a sceen that requires a shot from directly behind a car. I'm not sure about what to do about the license plate. I'd also prefer the entire car be in the shot. Do I need to come up with a fake tag to cover it? Is it alright to have a person's actual plate number in the shot. Althought I'd prefer to do it without the person's actual tag and plate number being shown even if it is ok. Any ideas or tips around this problem is appreciated.

depending on what state the license plate is from.. lets say its a CA plate... take some white tape and tape over part of the letters and #'s to change it so it looks like a different # or letter. If you arent that zoomed into the car, you shouldnt be able to tell there is any tape on the license plate. This is just one idea.
Another idea is to find an angle where you can shoot it so that the license plate is unreadable. A long shot, or shooting a little off right from behind the car could possibly do the trick. Good Luck!

Buy one on eBay: that also gives you the ability to change State (if you need to).
(Keep in mind the legal stuff though, about driving with wrong plates, and all....)
