Thx. I started to prompt the computer ot allow handels (when it ask now many frames you wanna use for handels when you create a new sequence). I have a few scenes where I didn't allow handels (b/c the lesson I was on in my classroom in a book guide said not to use them......'for that lesson'). I have the impression that will add a bit more work, but not keep me from anything.
I was surprised by these handles too, when I switched to PP2. I tend to turn them off, and take each cut manually. Some cuts need to be straight, some need a slower crossfade... not all cuts are the same, it depends on a lot of things.
It really won't limit you, one way or the other. It was intended to make things more automated, save time, etc. All you have to do is throw the stuff on the timeline, stock transitions automatically between clips, and you're done.

Normally an editor will take a source file and select an IN & OUT point and they are usually within the clip. ie not the first or last frame of the captured clip. The extra frames out side the IN & OUT points should be enough to make a transition with.
Selecting Frame Handles is most likely a good option to use when batch capturing from a Batch List or EDL.
