I'm using an HV20 and am considering getting the h4n so that I have xlr inputs, phantom power and 4 tracks.
I was thinking that I can use 1 of the xlr inputs for the boom mic to get a good recording of the actors and also simultaneously record using the onboard stereo mics to get the ambiance in the room.
But...
Can the audio from the H4n be fed back to the HV20, the camera, and have it recorded onto the HDV tape in real time? The HV20 has a external audio input (tried it with an ipod). So that I don't have to deal with having to resync the audio later.
Is there a live master out (where all 4 tracks can be mixed together, like I can pan the shotgun mic to the center and have the stereo mics mixed in as well) thru the line out/headphone jack or...can I only hear the current track that is being recorded?
I haven't bought this yet, I'd like to know this first.
