Question about getting your movie "picked up" by a company for DVD release

Ok, so my friends and I are making a feature length movie this summer. We've gone through a ton of preproduction work making sure everything will be going smoothly, I've obttained most of the equipment we'll need, and got a few experienced camera people on board and everything (my area of expertise is visual post effects, some cinematography, and acting). It's all good. :)

Funny thing happened this past month though. Long story short, there is a very high chance the child actor Jesse James (Butterfly Effect, The Amityville Horror) will act in the film for us.

I told a friend of mine this, and he thinks with Jesse James name in the film that we could probably get a distributing company to pick up the movie for us and publish it straight to DVD.

Is he right? If he is, how would one go about doing something like that?

Jesse james... that kid was a riot in butterfly effect. He's a pretty good actor.

If I was you i'd talk to jesse james about getting it published. Hes gotta have an agent or something like that.

Ok, I don't know why something so obvious about having Jesse James talk to his agent slipped my mind.

Thanks for the good wishes. :) I still have to talk to him about it (don't know him personally, he's a friend of a friend; I met him once a while ago), so I hope it all goes well. :)
