Question about FCP/AE plug-ins

Has anyone used Sapphire's plug-ins? They're kinda pricey, just wanted to hear from a bro before I let go of the dough. And do they have any serious competition?

I'm looking mainly to do an electrical discharge FX, but their other filters look VERY interesting.
