Question about dropped frames

Hi there,
I'm trying to get my head around the hvx workflow and am managing pretty well but i do have one question. Is there a way to check if there were any dropped frames during ingestion via firewire of my p2 footage from the camera to my mac? I've heard that there can be some frame issues when ingesting in this manner.

when transferring through firewire, it should come through bit by bit. rather than frame by frame, so even if the computer chokes up and slows down the transfer, all the p2 data should remain intact because frames aren't being processed, data is being transferred.

The frames are processed in camera and recorded to the card, all that is left after that is data transfer.
