Question about CF cards

I'm planning on purchasing a Canon XF100 for short films. I was going to order 2 32bit CF cards but a friend of mine told me that 32bit cards can "crash" and to go with an 8bit. but wouldn't that mean you'd get alot less storage and have to get more cards? Seems more cost efficient to just get the 32bits cards. Unless I'm missing something here.

The idea is that if a 8GB card fails you lose less material. So if you want to be careful buy 8GB cards. If you use a 32GB card and nearly fill it up and then it fails you might lose 30GB of info. If you use an 8GB card the most you'll lose is 8GB of info. Cards don't fail very often but it's something to think about. If you are doing paid work and only recording to one card at a time you might want to err on the side of caution. If you are just mucking about with friends shooting skateboard tricks then maybe the 32GB is the way to go.
