Hello,

I have a Azden question. THe 500UDR seems better than the 200UDR based on features. However, I see that the 200UDR is still being sold and can handle 2 transmitters at once.

Could I , should I, Can I , mount 2 500UDR receivers on the camera, or use 1 200UDR ? I will be having 2 transmitters in use by the 2 subjects I am interviewing.

Also, do you know if the handheld mic transmitter 51UXT works woth the 200UDR like the 51bt transmitter does?

Thanks for any help!

you should stay away from azden wireless.

The minimum acceptable professional wireless system is the sennheiser ew100 system at around $500 per channel. That is cheap for something that works. The stock lav that comes with the system is not very good, so you should try to replace it with a countryman emw wired for g2 (or better like a b6, sanken cos11, etc).

Aside from the general negative reputation Azden's products enjoy, you should also be aware of the changes in the laws regardling the use of wireless that are coming up in the US. You don't say where you're located but if it's in North America those units operate in the upper part of the frequency range - 698MHz to 806MHz - that the FCC has announced will become illegal for wireless mic usage after the final switch over to DTV in Feb 2009. You could find your investment suddenly become totally unusable and worthless in less than 6 months.

Steve,

Can you link or name your reference to this? I find it very hard to believe.

Thanks

EDIT : Scrap that request Steve, I googled it and came across this link

For the price I paid, I am not worried about it. However, it will be really interesting to see what Azden adn BH Photo do since they are still currently selling them!

I started reading from the FCC site. It is a 24 page document. So far I have found this verbage:

[1] 47 C.F.R. § 74.801. See also 47 C.F.R. § 2.106 NG115 (note to table of frequency allocations stating that the bands in which wireless microphones and wireless assist video devices may be authorized on a non‑interference basis include the “614-806 MHz” band, subject to the terms and conditions set forth in 47 C.F.R. part 74, subpart H).
[1] 47 C.F.R. § 74.803(b).
There is too much to read right now, but so far I cant find anything that says Azden wireless owners need to stop using their wireless devices. I still have to read the clause 47 C.F.R. part 74 subpart H

If you find anything more concrete, please share it!!
