Question about autosave vault?

I had a crash of fcp and I lost a clip but I've found one in the autosave vault. Is it of the same quality as the imported clip that I lost was or is a lower resolution saftey copy or something.

Can I use it asgin in fcp and if so how?

Or is best just to recapture that.

Thanks.

When FCP crashes, you don't loose captured clips. The autosave vault will have a backup of your project. The clips should still be in the Capture Scratch folder. Read the online help. It's pretty good.

In Laymans terms the auto save vault is literally a callander system of undos of a project you have been working on. Does that make sense?

Bgundu was right in that your captured clip should still be in your capture drive and should not be affected by the crash (unless of course the crash took place during a capture). All you have to do is re-import the clip in question back into the project (state) your working on.

Thanks for the help. One more novice question. At the moment I have my scratch disk set for my g-drive but my autosave vault set to to harddrive on my mac. Should they be both be set to the same thing?

That should be fine. You can also have your Project files in another location too.
