"Quantum of Solace"?

No way in hell this will be the final title. It makes The Phantom Menace sound like poetry.

As stated in the article, it is a direct quote from one of Ian Fleming's original Bond stories... but it does have the unfortunate ring of someone who's trying to dress up a bad movie with a pretentious title (AvP: Requeim, I'm looking in your direction! :) ).

what happened to manly names like license to kill, thunderball, and goldfinger?

quantum of solace? has bond been turned into a withdrawn astrophysicist?

It makes The Phantom Menace sound like poetry.

Man, I really liked that title. Now, the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, uhh, I mean Clones on the otherhand...

and you're right...the BOND title is horrible. Sounds like the title of a bad science fiction novel.

I happen to like the word Quantum...Quantum of Solace on the other hand does sound a bit strange for a Bond film.

Like always though, I'll be checking it out on release day.

I like the title. It already stands out. For all we know, it'll be the best bond ever and decades from now as we sit in a retirement community (specifically made for filmmakers) we'll say, "ahh...remember that Quantam of Solace flick?" "ahhh yes...the greatest bond of them all...one hell of a film".

this understanding from the Quantum of Solace short story makes me feel better about it... a little...

The crux is the emotional phenomenon the Governor calls the Quantum of Solace, the smallest unit of human compassion that two people can have. As long as that compassion exists, people can survive, but when it is gone, when your partner no longer cares about your essential humanity, the relationship is over.

Bond becomes depressed by the story as he realises he is alone, and that no one in the world has a "Quantum of Solace" for him.

i always liked Phantom Menace as a title, oh well.

I agree that Quantum of Solace is a strangely pretentious choice, but I like how un-bond like it sounds. I like how the last film was a departure and it seems like they're continuing in that direction.

I don't have a problem with the concept, but there is simply nothing evocative about using that phrase as the title. It conjures up no sense of intrigue, adventure, or anything else normally associated with Bond.
