Quantum Entanglement and Deep Space Propulsion

I'm not complaining. The principles and concepts are fascinating; actually comprehending (or approaching comprehension of) the underlying math is a lot of work, for me.

Cool, I've been waiting for my Entangled Modem :D

@muonwave

my physics is rusty and limited, is my understanding of entangled particles correct if I was to say that if a pair of entangled particles was used to used as a transceiver bit, even if they were seperated by any distance (or even time?) they would still move in sync (hence allow transceiving of data?)

This is awesome, though I'm not sure I'd feel good about being on a ship with no engine a gazillion miles from nowhere when WWIII breaks out on my home world, or worse, when funding for entangled propulsion gets cut because everyone starts wondering why we're running all of these power plants for "no reason."

:)

But I've been sending this stuff to a friend of mine writing a sci-fi novel, as a cool way to have instant communication within a space fleet scattered across the galaxy...

I'm entanlged in beer right now. I'm not sure I could handle an 'arithmetic' question at the moment let alone quantum physics.
You guys need to get out more. I know I do. FK me. I'm struggling with beer can pull-tabs that break off. I guess Einstein doesn't work for LaBatts. ( That's a beer company for all you engineering types.) Holy fk. :beer: Good luck with that ****, haha.

Engineers know all about beer...at least, the engineers that I went to school with...

We're the engineers
we drink the beers
we throw the levers
we strip the gears...

My understanding is (such that it is, that is...), that yes, the information they would impart (in the current view of QCD/QM - which isn't complete as a subset of a TOE theory at this moment in time), spin, color or charm - in the same direction, spin value, and/or positional value, would be transferred unimpeded and instantaneously.

Entanglement itself however, if solved at a practical and financially production-capable scale, seems to me to be that tipping point jump from one level of civilization to the next level. I hope I live long enough to see it come to fruition. A near-future where instantaneous acceleration and communications with near unlimited power and range, might be an interesting time to live in.

I love science.
