Quantaray lenses?

The title basically says it all. Anyone here use Quantaray brand lenses? Any thoughts or comments on them? They're an inexpensive alternative to the name brands, and as I am on a tight budget I wonder what the quality is. Can't really find too many reviews online. Anyone? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Why not buy Ebay or KEH [bargain] lenses with brand names and a track record? Are you buying used Quantarays? You would need the Nikon or Canon Quantarays for proper register distance... right?

re: Quantaray lensess

I have a 28mm Quantaray that I bought in the 70s when I was a student and couldn't afford anything else, along with my Nikkor 50mm f1.8 purchased at the same tim. When I had a Brevis I tried them both, with less than satisfactory results. The Nikkor was better but in the end I think it was the Brevis not the lenses. I got a Letus EX and tried them both on that adapter and the Quantaray looks every bit as good as the Nikkor. Now the one I have is 30+ years old and I don't know who manufactures them now but I would use it on a production in a heartbeat.

Really depends on the lens itself. I used a Quantaray 28-90mm f3.5-5.6 EF on my Extreme and sharpness wasn't the best. It was a pretty cheap zoom though, so I can't say whether other lenses are the same.
