QT Pro Export slow

Hi,

I'm trying to export a MOV in QT Pro, and it's taking a really long time for a 20-30sec clip. Approximately 2.5 hrs. It's 1080p footage. I did add some colour correction filters on it. Compression is h.264.

Is it supposed to be this slow? I read elsewhere that filters will add to the time, but when I tested one without the filters, it's the same amount of time.
 
It could be a disk read speed issue. Are you trying to do this operation over a slow USB 1 drive? or possibly over a networked location?
 
No, this is on the same HDD. 7200rpm.

I'm thinking it's probably my hardware. I'm not on an i7 machine. 4GB ram, quad core @ 2.8. :(
