QT export mystery

I have a QT mpg file, exported from FCP 4.5 with the Sorenson 3 codec. A look at "get movie info" confirms that S3 was used.

I've made sure that all relevant audio and video MIME settings in QT are checked.

Movie plays fine on my Mac and on my PC laptop. But when I try to open it in a couple of media converters on the laptop (I need a wmv version, too), I get an error message (file damaged or not supported.) This may also explain why a PC-owning friend who can usually play QT files can't open mine.

Deadline is approaching. Help, please!
 
Same problem with that.

I should clarify two things: I just updated from 10.3.4 to 10.3.9, and from QT 6 to 7. Last time I did this with the old config, I didn't have this problem.

Also, the two media converters give different mssgs: Video Convert Master says damaged/unsupported file, but the Microsoft conversion program says a codec is missing.
