Hi Guys,
Had a bit of a nightmare these past two days as we started bringing composited shots into a Resolve 11.1 timeline filled with Sony RAW .mxf files.
Things were perfectly stable before we started bringing in the composites, but then Resolve started crashing to the desktop without notice or freezing up the computer (early 2013 i7 iMac) completely.
Trying to figure out what was going wrong I turned to the activity monitor, and it showed that it was the "QT Decoder" that kept going into 'not responding mode'. At first this would come sometime into the grading, and then the time it took got shorter and shorter until eventually it would become non-responsive before I could even open a project to work on.
By converting all of the composites to .dpx I was able to get the grade finished without QT Decoder causing resolve to crash. But it was still becoming non-responsive from the moment I open Resolve, and since most of my work is with ProRes .mov files, this is a BIG issue.
The few tips I could glean from online suggested it would be dodgy .mov files. So I removed every last .mov file from the project (so it was just raw .mxf and .dpx) and QT Decoder was still dying as soon as I opened Resolve.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, I tried upgrading from v11 to v11.1. I checked that my CUDA drivers were up to date. So if anyone has any other suggestion for how I might get things back to the way they were - I'd certainly appreciate it!
Cheers,
Mark
