I know about how much a label charges for a music video, but how much do they charge for say a live concert to be recorded, and then produced into a DVD?

Also what do you think they pay to have the band recorded documentary style, like you film their recording of their next album in the studio, or you record them for 3 months on their summer tour so on and so on...?

I'm a little green, and try to get any and all info about the inner workings before I make myself look like a fool by lowballing or highballing. Can't play football with a hockey stick, so I want to know the rules before I step on the field.

Thanks,

Tim

In my experience I've seen labels pay approx $20K for a video, $50K for a concert and as much as $80K for a video, concert, documentary... but of course this is all specific to the label, artist, producers, currency, genre, etc... so unfortunately there are no real "rules" to play by, you just have to set a honest price based on your time and expenses keeping in mind what you think is appropriate for the specific project.
