It's because of the moisture in the air and blue being the one of the shorter wavelengths of light and it being refracted everywhere

Because if it wasn't then Crayola would have all these lawsuits for selling "Sky Blue" and "Fire Red" crayons (I don't knowif they really have those colors, just sounded funny to me :D )

It must be something with the way pigment affects the skin in the palm. I think this because even though I am caucasian and at a cursory glance appear to be the same color on the back and palm of the hand, if I look closely there is a subtle difference.
