PV-GS300 + EVW-300 = Expensive DV camera for cheap

I have a Sony EVW-300 in my possession, which is a 3CCD ENG HyperHAD camera. But sadly, it only records to a broken Hi-8 deck.

I also have a Panasonic PV-GS300. It's a cheap consumer 3CCD camera. It's nice, but I want the 1/2" sensor, fancy lens, and shoulder mountability of my EVW.

So far I've done alright recording off the S-Video output onto my Canon Elura 65. But the image quality isn't quite up to snuff.

I've cracked my EVW open a few times to mess with the internal switches and work out which board does what. I notice that the feed from each CCD comes on its own separate line into the processing board, so I started to wonder. What if I cracked open the GS300 too? Unhook the internal CCDs and jack it into the feeds coming off the EVW sensors?

Something tells me there's more to this than simply that. Perhaps the image processor is expecting a specific signal format off the chip or the pinouts will be wildly different. But does the idea at least seem plausible?

If you just want the large CCd - look at the tons of options available in used Machine Vision Cameras. Sony 2/3-inch CCD MVS's can be bought off ebay for 200 bucks - DXC-151A. They have a RGB output usually..
The DXC-9100 also have 1/2-inch CCD with progressive scan..
