PV-DV103 as deck question, DC cable problem

Hello all,
Being a DVX newbie here, I've spent the last little while reading this forum
extensively. As a result, I purchased a PV-DV103 camcorder off of ebay to use as
a deck as some of here have suggested. Now the problem is, it didn't come with a
DC cable (ie the cable that goes from the charger to the camera).
Now I've figured that the batteries are interchangable with the DVX's and so I've been using battery power to perform capture so far.

I called up Panansonic to order the cable, but they want something like $50.00 US just to ship it to Canada (the cable cost 8.50). I called up Henry's here in Toronto and they told me that I'd have to order another charger!

I'm just wondering, can I just go into Radio Shack or a computer place, and buy
a generic DC cable? One that matches the voltage etc.? Or should I just use the DVX charger to power my "deck"?

Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.

the cable is just a straight cable that comes out of the charger and goes into the cam. theres no transformer on it or anything. its just a straight plug to plug cable. so if you can just find a cable that matches the plug on the charger and the plug into the camera.. which i think is the same size and type plug on both sides if i remember right.. thats all you need.
