pulling only video into timeline

How do you only pull video into your edit and not audio. Say you have a take and your just doing a cut away and you wanna leave the video and audio in their respective tracks and have the cut away in video 2 so that it cuts away but none of the audio associated with that track is pulled into the timeline as well. I hope this is not too confusing, I tried to be as clear as possible.

Un-patch the audio -- little buttons on the left side of the timeline. When the video is loaded into the viewer you'll have those patch buttons available to you. Make sure they are slid to the left -- away from the timeline.
