I am really confused by some things and I hope someone can give me some precise answers. I have been trying to read around on here, but I don't understand! Please help.
I am shooting a short with the DVX (obviously) in the Squeeze widescreen mode. When I am done I will be using Avid Xpress Pro to edit in a 23.97P timeline. I am not doing any fancy effects, but I have a short title sequence at the beginning that will have some titles appear over some footage of a building and then a scrolling title sequence at the end. There is a possiblility I would have this all transferred to film eventually so I would like to keep that in consideration. I would like to makethe title sequence in AE because I know it the best and I want to make the titles slide around and stuff (plus, AE rules) and I'd like to make the credits in AE as well.
I am so confused by all this pulldown/24p/widescreen stuff, I was hoping you could all answer a few questions.
1-When I bring the fotoage out of Avid and into AE to lay the titles over the top, to I need to interpret the footage a special way? or will AE do that for me automatically?
2-What should the frame rate of the composition be? Should it be 23.97?
3- What should the SIZE of the composition be? I assume 720 x 486 but this is for a 4x3 screen size, not for widescreen. I will be doing 16 x 9 in avid and flagging it when it goes to DVD.
3-Can someone explain pulldown to me and how it works with the DVX100 and with avid and ae...or better yet, link me to some articles or discussions.
4-When I made scrolling credits before in 30i mode for film transfer we had to be careful about letting the credits move at a certain rate, I believe 24frames per second (it has been awhile) With the 23.97P timeline in Avid (and AE) does this still stand? What is a good frame rate to move the scroll to make the credits be good on film transfer.
5- Should I give up and not do a scroll? Or maybe if I DO transfer to film I should just let hte transfer house do the credit scroll. But the front title sequence I NEED to do in AE because it is over video...any advice?
I'm sorry for all the questions, I'm just confused. If anyone can help, or send me some links, or just answer 1 or 2 questions I would be in your debt forever!!!
