I have run across a good deal on a PSC Alphamix (less than $1k). Is there anyone who has experience with this mixer who can talk me out of it?
I have not read any bad reviews, and nearly all proclaim the preamps to be equal to, or even better than, the SD 442. I've spoken to PSC today, and was told that the preamps on the alphamix are far superior to the promix series.
I really like the NP-1 internal battery configuration and don't like the LCD metering.
But, my criteria for a mixer is:
1. Quality pre-amps
2. Ease of gain-staging and level control
3. I/O Flexibility
If price was not a factor I would go with the SD442, but at nearly a grand less than the street prices for used 442s, the Alphamix looks like a winner.
Any deal killers which would prevent me from pulling the trigger on this thing?
