PS3 Online

Robbie Comeau

Como's back. back again
COD5 has been working fine online, but when I turned on my system today to play online, it won't load.

It just says DOWNLOADING GAME SETTINGS.

I googled it and they said to reset your router. I did and it did nothing.

After a while, it finally finished "downloading" and when I went to look for an online match, it took forever!

Usually, it takes 5 seconds..

Any help?

Thanks,

Robbie

Maybe their servers are swamped, I've been having the same problem with NHL 09, trying to sign onto the EA servers.

That'd be my guess. So far I've done most of my online gaming on my XB360, so I haven't done enough online stuff with my PS3 to have had any problems yet. The Playstation Store always works fine as well. The only thing is I couldn't get into the Home trial. It just wouldn't let me in.

Are you guys planning on getting Killzone 2?

Maybe start gaming on a PC like the rest of us REAL geeks :)

I'll PWN you any day any time any map with my mouse and keeburd

I like sitting in a nice comfy chair or on the couch in front of the big TV. I'm stuck in front of the computer a large portion of the day so when it is time to game I can use the time away from the desk.

I would have to agree with that, though my best chair is the one I use for the computer.

Always good to have for those long editing sessions.

Another thing about PC gaming is that is seems like you need to upgrade every 2 years while with console gaming the next system cycle is usually 5+ years from the last and overall much cheaper except for PC games being 10 bucks cheaper retail.

Well you don't if you buy the right video card, plus it can be cheaper... I am gaming at 1920x1200 with a relatively old card right now and for $240 I could get about the same performance of a PS3... and run Ventrilo, Teamspeak, keep the map with names for buildings on the second screen, click over to my browser in between games... and PWN your Arse over and over again an higher than 1080p resolutions :D

but seriously though, yea, the PS3 is a great buy IMO.. but I will really like to get a new 200 series GeForce for future editing needs and save the money... upgrading is as easy as selling, buying and dropping in... I dunno... PS3's rock, especially cause of Blu-Ray, but PCs will forever pwn if you have the time money and know how to put into it

I don't really know too much about tearing apart and rebuilding PC's and add to that I use a Mac now so for me a console is just easier. Plus with a PS3 or XB360 there are some good exclusives that you can't get on a PC (Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4, etc.). Of course the PC has it's own exclusives and all the massive multiplayer online games as well. I guess its a trade off. At least all three have tons of good games. Now the Wii, not much there that interests me.

well anything on any console will eventually be cracked for PC :D

You got me there, although things like Xbox live arcade is just great and so convenient. Geometry Wars anyone?

I would like to try an MMO though. Anyone played EVE online? Looks interesting and I'm a space opera fan so I'd rather try that than Warcraft. I'm not too keen on the subscription fees though.

I want a PS3 to get a Blu-Ray player :)

That's the main reason I originally bought mine. Now that there is a good library of games its a great deal. If you can wait there is rumor that there might be a price cut this spring or early summer, although Sony is denying it.
