I was wondering if anyone could give me the thumbnail step-by-step of creating proxies for FCP footage.
I have about 15 hours of ProRes footage for a documentary I'm working on.
I'd love to convert everything to low enough resolution that I can fit it all on my MBP to edit on the fly.
Then at the end, re-connect to the full-res media.
So, do I just create a mirror folder structure of all the footage on another drive, res it down in compressor, keep the same file names, then re-link to the new, lower-resolution media?
That way, I assume, I could simply re-connect with the hi-res footage at the end of the editing.
Also, what proxy format is recommended?
Or is there a better/easier way?
