provista tripod

Re: provista tripod

It does look good. I don't know how the head compares to say, the Bogen 501. But if it wasn't on the evs site, I'd say it was a scam. I wonder if Rush is around?

Re: provista tripod

We have an earlier version of that tripod and then the company upgraded some parts for me. ( old parts were plastic, now they are steel--these were just handles, knobs..)

Actually, this is a pretty decent tripod. A good, patient shooter can still get some very nice, smooth moves out of the head and certainly, solid tripod shots. Mobility is decent too. It is not the fluid head many drool over, but it passes. If you are not doing a bunch of wide sweeping pans- you will be fine.

While it is not junky tripod, it is not made quite as smartly as some others. It does have a decent safety catch, also.

Tiffen product.

Someone call?
I had left the tripod up in front of my desk for a couple days, and I used it on and off, to get an opinion. It is the best tripod I have seen for under $200. Hands down. ;) Very stable base, heavy legs, heavier than a 3046. However, does the head compete with the 501? No. Not as fluid, not as smooth. If you a looking for stability at a very low cost, this is the ticket. It is not a replacement for the Bogen 3246-3433. The twist-lock knobs at the legs are a little cumbersome, but not difficult, and it comes with two pan-handles (For whenever they come out with a remote electronic focus for the DVX... ;D)

That's right... rub it in our faces.

Re: provista tripod

Man, I wish they would already, so I can run two panhandles on my shoots like I used to in the old Beta days. I have used the DVX on every shoot for the past 3 years, and I have almost always wanted remote focus. I think I am gonna jump on the Cinetech FFSL01, the newest model has a rear-firing lug to accept a whip, so you can finally rack focus from the tripod handle with a 40" whip. I have been saving up my moola. ;)

Re: provista tripod

Oooh, that's sweet. The Chrosziel whip that I jut bought from ya kinda pales in comparrison. ;)

It literally just came out two days ago, and we showed it at the DVExpo for the first time.
