Has anyone used this tripod kit? It comes with a FM18 fluid head. I'm thinking about buying one since I read the article in VideoMaker but I'm wondering if it's so good, why is it so cheap? ($229 at EVS). If it's junk, I'd rather save my dough and buy a good one. After all, I already have a cheap tripod and really don't need another one. Thanks for any feed back in advance.

Never used it, but I'm pretty confident in saying you most always don't get what you pay for.
In other words, you'll be lucky if that thing performs like a $229 tripod period. More likely it will
be about as good as a $150 tripod. Probably sucks about as much as what you've got already.

Same goes for every product in every market; you rarely even get what you pay for.

Great Tripod

I have it and love it. It is a perfect tripod for the DVX. It works just like a pedestal. Smooth up and down ped action. Also a great fluid head. I have used this also for my Cobra crane send me your e-mail for PICS.

FORGOT TO MENTION WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!

Sanford and Davis is made by Tiffen. I have the provista is I love it as well. The FM 18 head could use some tweaking on the knobs, but it is very smooth and very heavy duty.

I just picked mine up and so far so good. By the way, what are the 2 short knobs that came with the quick release plate for?

Are you talking about the two different size screws that bolt the plate to the camera?

Nevermind I figured it out. You were right, it is a sweet tripod, especially for the price. Thanks.
