Pros/Cons of a laser distance measurer

[oxband]

I do documentary film and am considering getting a laser distance measurer. I figure this might be useful in settings where I wont have the liberty of using tape like a crowd. Any thoughts on this? If you use one, is there a particular laser distance measurer you recommend?

Should be fine as long as you measure from the film plane or sensor.

I have been thinking about this for some time. If you go ahead with it please inform us as to the Brand/Model you choose and how it works for you.

This is a pretty good article on the subject.

I use one from Home Depot all the time. It works great.
