pros and cons for encoding 30p video to 24p?

I am encoding 30 p footage and tried outputing to 24p. It looks good to me. I don't notice any motion problems.

Does procoder just kick out extra frames or is it "blending" frames to go from 30 frames to 24?

Should I be getting a little better quality of a picture when encoding in 24 frames instead of 30?

It's always best to shoot at the frame rate you want to use in the final version.
Encoding at 24 instead of 30 means there's a slight savings on storage and amoutn of data being passed per second. Not usually a problem unless you're making a long DVD or have a lot of high speed action. The down side is most software does not do a clean job of speed changing. Since it's not interlaced it has to mix frames or drop frames. Both of which degrade the image and motion.

yeah but when you endode like in Windows media encoer or any other encoder does it just kick out the extra frames or does it blend?

Seems like it would depend if you choose to output it at 15fps or sample every 15 or 12 or something like that. I dont' know. I get confused on this topic too.
