hello. simple question (maybe)

do i gain anything by setting render as to prores HQ instead of prores when editing hdv material?

thanks,

It depends on what your output is. If its any flavor of compressed HD, HDV, HDCAM, DVCProHD etc then no.

The only time it possibly worth the extra data for ProRes HQ is if your planning to output to film.

A guideline is higher end workflows should use ProRes HQ. If you would normally edit uncompressed then go with ProRes HQ. If you would normally trancode to DVCPROHD or you just wished you could edit uncompressed then use ProRes SQ. I would always go ProRes SQ skip HQ unless your targeting film release and shooting on a higher end camera like Red,Varicam, F950, Genesis, etc.
