Props to Envision

After reading about Coffee's good experience with Envision (Norm) for duplication, I decided to give him a try on a current project. Thought I'd come back and share the experience with all of you.

I got a call from the client last Tuesday. They told me that they needed 400 discs duplicated and ready to distribute by Sunday. At this point, I didn't even have the master done, as I had just gotten a huge list of changes to make to the project at the same time. I called Norm up. Turns out he had to go out of town from Thursday through Saturday. He was amazing though. Even though it was an inconveniece to him, when I got him the master on Wednesday, he burned through it, and still managed to finish all the discs, even in the insanely limited timeframe.

And he was great to work with too. Excellent service, etc. I needed to pick up the first half of the run on Saturday night so it could be distributed Sunday morning. Even though he had gotten back into town literally an hour before, it wasn't a problem for me to come over to his house at 10:30pm to pick them up.

As for the duplication itself, amazing quality. The finish on the discs was BEAUTIFUL. Amazing print quality. High quality all around, for that matter.

I'll definitely use him again on the next project that needs duplication. An all around amazing experience. The client just couldn't get over how stunning the finished discs were. And the DVXuser discount was great too.

Thanks Norm, you rock!

Nice of you to share your experience. It's always refreshing to hear good stories and happy endings, instead of the "Hey, don't EVER buy something from Doug's Discount Digital in lower Queens. They suck!" :)

That's fantastic to hear. I know that I'll be using him next time I need to have duplication done.

Craft Service Secrets???

Craft Service Secrets???

He has great craft service on his productions too......

Envision, can you share your Craft Service secrets? I'm so sick of serving my crews packaged snacks from CostCo... We always have some fresh food, too, of course, for breakfast/lunch/dinner, plus some veggies & fruit and/or chips & salsa, but the Fig Newtons, Oreos, Slim Jims and Granola Bars are getting old for the "snack bar" ... Actually, last week the series Rescue Me (with Dennis Leary) was shooting on my block, so I checked out their Craft Services table -- and they had all the same CostCo stuff!!!

WOW, Jerry, thanks a ton! Glad your client was impressed with the disc quality, and a special thank you for all the kind words.

Until I can get a banner up & running on DVXuser, feedback like this will do nicely. :)

MsManhattan, there's no real secret ... people just tend to dig the homemade stuff more. For this production, I had a friend of ours who loves to cook agree to do our catering & craft services. In addition to copy/credit, I'll probably end up comp'ing her with a family video, etc., but otherwise I just took care of the actual hard food costs, which hit in the neighborhood of $400. That fed a cast & crew of up to 25 people for FOUR 9+ hour days, including home made snacks (incredible salsa/dips, home made cookies, brownies, etc. and fresh fruit & bagles) and a full hot meal (different theme each night) complete with salad, etc. Lots of beverages on hand as well.

Just make sure your food & beverage is tempting, accessible, and LOTS of it.

Dang, You're the man! Your hard costs were probably about the same as we usually spend, too (for CostCo, plus delivery from a restaurant for the meals) -- and I love to cook, but never have time during pre-production to do that volume of cooking myself. I will have to look for someone like your friend because with the hard costs being the same, I'd much rather do what you did... Thanks for the input.
