Proper insertion of halogen bulbs in Lowel Omni

Just got this little Lowel Omni light (500W) and the instructions state:

"The electrical contacts on the Omni lamp socket are very stiff and require considerable lamp insertion pressure to properly seat the lamp."

Problem is they don't provide a picture as to what a "properly seated lamp" means. Should the little silver posts on the bulb disappear completely into the socket when properly mounted? Because I'm pushing the bulb in as hard as I can (holding the bulb's base with a cloth) and I cannot push the thing in far enough to make the silver posts completely disappear into the socket. Still see a few millimeters of post. Makes me think the bulb still isn't fully inserted (and thus makes it dangerous to operate). Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

I did one of these a couple weeks ago when I bought my omni, and basically i just took the reflector out by unscrewing everything, used the free space to give my hand more room to push it in all the way. then i wedged the reflector back in, screwed everything back together and it's been working fine.

Yeah, finally got the lamp/bulb into the socket. It required A LOT of pressure. The porcelain of the lamp does have to be flush with the porcelain of the socket (i.e., the bulb has to be pushed right down as far as it can go). Took someone with stronger fingers to get it in, after I tried for half an hour. Guess I'm a whimp. ;-)

Hi, any lamp when fitted into its proper lampbase should show nothing between the base or the the lamp. i.e. The lamp should ALWAYS sit flush with the lampbase.
Sometimes it can take quite a bit of pressure depending on how old the lampbases are...............

Hope this helps...
Cheers
Chris

I know its stating the obvious, but make sure you arent using your fingers against the actual lamp.
