Okay, I have worked 3 films with a particular company and I am a bit concerned with the direction they are using to promote the film. This is a high value production (IMO) that could really gain some interest, considering the budget it was shot on.
They want the initial screening to be on the campus, where there is limited "flash" ability, but up to 1000 seating. Meaning it will be limited on how we promote the film on the premiere day. I envision soldiers, fully armed, Humvees, etc. Really play this up. But the campus will NOT allow this.
Am I wrong in this? We had really talented actors in this, and I want maximum exposure. And I feel that they are being short-sighted. Sure, impress your friends, but what about those outside the campus? Media? Real press-releases, compared to the one I saw. Make a splash, sure, not a big one, it's not a feature. But make a small one to get noticed.
Look, I busted my ass on the last 3 films for them, and have a vested interest here. Shouldn't I have a right to expect more of a short film that can do well on the public front than just a screening on campus? I am willing to front some money on this.
