Projector screens

I'm planning on picking up Panny's new PT-AE700U projector to use for evaluating footage we shoot (and of course for watching DVDs!).

I'm trying to determine what the best screen is to get. I'm leaning toward the Stewart Firehawk, although the distance from the projector to the screen is only about 10 feet. There's some ambient light in the room, so I figure a gray screen is the way to go. Firehawks are expensive, though.

Anyone have any experience or suggestions?

Re: Projector screens

get some screen paint from markertek and just paint one on your wall. More trick, less dough :)

Hey Kai,

Interesting. have you seen this paint in action? I'm curious how it holds up compared to a real screen. Price is pretty good. Thanks

Re: Projector screens

I had this situation and was approaching a deadline, so I bought a 6ft wide window shade from Wal-Mart and wall mounted it. It worked so well that I haven't replaced it yet. ;D

I suppose when it breaks or something I'll replace it with a bit more "professional" screen, but you can't be $30 for a screen. ;)

I used one of those at the office for awhile but when I replaced it with a real screen it was, wow... Day and night. The screen does make a big difference.

Re: Projector screens

Good to know. I originally bought it out of desperation, but now that I could actually devote some time to screen shopping I'll have to see about replacing it.

Same here - Needed one in 1/2 an hour. It worked and I figured what the hell... But man, did a real screen look better.
