Projector as lighting

I am trying to put together a video using a projector as lighting.

Something in this style:

The problem is that my projector is DLP technology, so you can see the horizontal lines moving.
I am shooting with Canon D60 and Olympus PEN PL-1.

Can somebody help me with advice how to get rid of the horizontal lines? I tried adjusting shutter speed but no success.
Also, do you think they used extra lighting in the video above?

i'm not convinced it's a projector at all. the letters don't move quite convincingly enough for me, but it could be a placement thing that just makes it appear that way. i'm not saying it's not a projector, just that i'm not convinced it wasn't some slick digital editing.

I'm 100% certain that the text "projected" on the guy was not accomplished by using a projector. If you want to reproduce the style of that video exactly, then you'll have to do it as a composition in post.

Scanning through the video, I'm quite sure he's just standing in front of some "regular" diffused lights (whatever they might be), but not a projector. Everything else is done in post.

All that being said, a real projector could accomplish something really nice, but it probably won't be as sharp as this video. It all depends on the style you're going for...

I've shot a ton of corporate events where projectors are in use. Here are a few things to took for:
1. On some cameras (although probably not on a 60D) there is a "synchro scan" feature that will compensate for flickering and banding like this.
2. Some projectors allow you to adjust "Phase" in the menus which may help.
3. Even if you can adjust away the line, I've found that DLP projectors on video often slowly cycle through a rainbow of color tint every few seconds as it phases with the camera. Not good.
4. If you can't do anything about this, maybe try shooting in different frame rates 24/29.97/30/59.97/60 and see if that helps. Also maybe try different refresh rates on the source of the projector, although this problem is probably being introduced by the DLP itself.

Thanks for the advice!
After experimenting with many projectors, the best result was achieved with LCD projector.
Here is the result of one day filming and a month of editing.
I hope you like it!

Nice! That video makes me want to see more from the band. I know it is not quite the same thing but I just finished a projector as lighting gig as well.
