Project delivery formats

Hi guys,

Im just writing up a production contract and i'm at the product delivery stage. Im just wondering, as well as a dvd copy or whatever, what digital copies of the project you offer your clients, QT file, MPEG-2 etc?? obviously each client may require something slightly different but what are good options to present to them...?

Cheers

Tom.

We deliver a DVD copy and, sometimes, an uncompressed QT 8-bit via FTP.

For our archive, we maintain an Beta SP with the MASTER and a PRE-MASTER (program without letterings, and unmixed audio), and a FULL QT (M and PM) on our server.

Thats great thanks! i was wondering about the uncomp' QT and whether it would really be required by most clients... i guess ill just give them the options that i am prepared to offer and they can decide.

In terms of archiving...i have noted that a DVD master will be kept for additional duplication, and the FCP project will be kept for 6 months unless specifically requested. In reality we will keep the capture scratch and FCP project indefinitely but to cover our backs i have contracted that it will only be for 6 months after the project is signed off.

We dont have access to any Beta decks or blu-ray drives for archiving permanently... :(

For one feature film I edited, we did..

DVD w/menus
MPEG2
DV Tape
FCP media on separate Hard Drive along with Uncompressed QT

We offer and uncop for the client because sometimes, after the job is closed, the client wants to copy new DVDs and doesn`t want to come back to the production company.

We use Betas because we work with material that will be broadcasted (TV series, Commercials, addresses...). Since we record a lot of material in HD (720, 1080) we prefer to save the project and a FULL QT in our server.
