Programs to Sync my Audio For Me!

Hey there,

Was wondering what programs are out there that can help me sync my sound. I tried Plural Eyes but its not that effective for me. Basically I have a DSLR, I recorded sound with an external recorder, and now I have a bunch of sound clips. Is there a program that can help me find which sound clip matches to which video clip? My main problem is that I'm having a hard time figuring out which sound clip matches up to which video clip.

Thanks!

Two words ... "Sound Log". Given a collection of 20 video clips and a collection of 20 audio files, how could any software know what audio goes with which video?

By matching the audio wave forms with each sound clip in a certain "batch" to the linked audio on the DSLR video. Any programs can do this?

That's Plural Eyes and that's the only program I'm aware of that does it. When you saud you found it ineffective, I assumed you didn't have any linked audio in the video clips for it to work with, ie, were trying to work with a set of video-only clips and a separate set of audio files that need to be paired with their appropriate clips. How are you finding it ineffective? What did you need to do that Plural Eyes can't do for you?

Sounds like kevinkt didn't slate (or even log?) anything and he doesn't know which audio clip goes with which video clip. Hopefully he learned THAT lesson and will never do something so silly again.

Part of why it's hard to answer your question is that these two statments conflict.

If you have your audio files and your video files linked then why is it hard to figure out which ones match?

Pluraleyes is the only app I know of that does what your talking about. It's usually done by hand. It's not that hard once you have a 1 to 1 relationship between video clips and sound files. You need to have them that way whether your doing it by hand or with Pluraleyes.

If I had to guess it would be that the on camera sound is very hard to make out so matching is dodgy. That is one reason I recommend using something like the Rode VIDEO MIC on the camera so you get a better camera track to sync to.

They have a new product called Dualeyes that is designed to sync audio and is probably more robust in that function. Pluraleyes is designed to sync video

Yes I didn't slate. I had limited crew and therefore I didn't do it.

Also I figured it out. Plural Eyes can do the trick. The whole time I was just messing around with the wrong audio files.

Thanks!

Limited crew is bullshit as an excuse not to slate....

It's not because you're the director you can not slate....

Even if you don't slate, at least clap. I use a clicker that you use to train dogs. It gives a sharp spike and you can do it with one hand if need be.
