Has anyone had any experiences with profeel? They just lowered there prices on the DVX-100A to like 3,100. Are they one of "those" companies? Thanks for the help.
I bought the DVX-100 from Profeel for $2900. They're a good company. Only problem I had was Profeel shipping the camera to Texas and I'm located on the east coast. But the actual owner called every night until the situation got resolved. You should be fine.
I've purchased two digital cameras and one 3CCD video camera from Profeel. As I've posted elsewhere, they are not like those sharks who post bogus prices. I don't even remember being asked about ANY accessories on any of my three purchases. What was on their site is what I paid. The phone staff were courteous and businesslike. My only problem with them is that they are in NY State (so am I) and thus i have to pay sales tax.
when i was shopping around for my DVX everyone over at DV.com forums told me to stay away from profeel and there were MANY bad tales about them.
unfortunately their forums seem to be down now so i cant send you a link, just go there sometime and search on profeel. looks like no one here had troubles, but if i remember they harrassed a lot of people on the phone trying to force them into buying more stuff they didnt want and grey market merchandise as well....if i remember.
but i did a lot of partying in high school and college so perhaps i never really heard this?
I purchased my DVX100A from Profeel about a month ago. I have absolutely no complaints about them. It was a great experience and I would gladly buy from them again.
Also, I saw rating of Profeel that were on one of those comparison sites where you can click to get comments. Their feedback rating was positive. As for the post above about being hassled about purchasing more: Either they mixed it up with a different place, or you had one bad salesman, or maybe on the bigger ticket items they do this. Who knows.
the company to avoid was royal camera. they had the DVX100A for $28000. http://www.resellerratings.com is the site to go to when you want to to do your homework on resellers.
my apologies to profeel and to those of you owning stock in the company. he he.

Profeel is excellent. I bought my DVX100a from there...excellent service and great prices. I had accidently gotten involved with a gray market company before and was terrified of ordering online again but the folks at Profeel were great. I would highly recommen them. ;D
Its a pitty that they are not an Authorized Dealer. I bought my DVX100A from them and I only have Great things to say about them. I surfed to the end of the web while searching for the best price on the dvx100a. I found much cheaper places that Profeel but there feedback was outstanding (and honestly whats $100-200 when your speinding 3k for a sound peace of mind).
The lady that I worked with was Ellie and she was awesome. She didnt push me around and try to bully me into buying crap I didnt need or have the cash for at the time. I had found cheaper prices on a few other sites and she did what she could to price match them for me (and did a very good job.) I wanted to get the camera next day and it was already 2:00 in the afternoon. I had to call the bank to make sure the purchase would clear and get everything in order.
I placed my order around 3o'clock and Ellie sent me the typical credit card signature sheet for large orders. The only problem was I didnt have a fax machine on hand so I scanned the sheet and emailed it back. Well to shorten up, it didnt go to be completely legable 3 times and time was running short to get the order in on time. I ran to the store to fax my info and like an Idiot left my check card at home. She called at 5:30 and said the shipper was there but she was holding him till I could get my order in. It took me about another 15mins and everything went thru and I got the package next day. So all in all one of the best customer experiences I have ever had!
Just bought dvx100a from them w/no probs, but they did call back the next day to offer the extended service plan for $400. Didn't know they weren't an authorized vendor though. Not a biggie unless it was a more expensive piece of equipment. But they are 100% legit. Other than B&H which has the big physical store, Profeel is the place I have the most confidence in e-tailing with.
You can get them to match B&H prices on those Mack warranties, where they are much cheaper. If they don't, you still have something like 30 days to buy the extended warranty from anyone that sells them. Just don't pay $400 for it.
